Trump supports the legalization of marijuana in Florida If it's a small amount and done correctly.
In a recent TruthSocial post, former president Donald Trump stated that he anticipated Florida's marijuana ballot initiative to pass, but he also urged the state government to enact legislation prohibiting the drug's usage in public places.
"Whether people like it or not, this will happen through the approval of the Voters, so it should be done correctly," the former president wrote, adding that "personal amounts of marijuana will be legalized for adults with Amendment 3 in Florida, like so many other States that have already given their approval." It is imperative that the State Legislature appropriately enact rules that forbid its use in public areas, in order to prevent the pervasive stench of marijuana that permeates many Democrat-run cities.
Trump claimed that making marijuana illegal would "waste Taxpayer Dollars arresting adults with personal amounts of it on them," framing his stance as one that was in line with his "Make America Safe Again" platform.
"No one should grieve a loved one because they died from marijuana laced with fentanyl," he continued. We'll restore safety to America!
"Adults 21 years or older to possess, purchase or use marijuana products and marijuana accessories for non-medical personal consumption" is the stated language of the marijuana ballot initiative, should it pass. A decision to put the proposal on the ballot for 2024 was made in April by the state Supreme Court.
The statement was made in response to Trump's campaign being forced to reaffirm its position for a separate Florida ballot initiative that would protect the state's constitutional right to an abortion.
Trump claimed on Thursday that the six-week abortion limit in Florida is "too short." "More time is required," he continued.
Pro-life advocates took issue with his remarks, with leaders such as Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America president Marjorie Dannenfelser releasing a statement stating, "I spoke with President Trump this evening." Regarding Amendment 4, he has not declared his vote. Abortions performed after five months of pregnancy have always been opposed by President Trump. Abortion beyond this would be permitted under Amendment 4. Supporting Amendment 4 totally betrays his views.
Friday, one day later, Trump explained his comments and declared, "I'll be voting no" on the ballot question pertaining to abortion rights. See more
