Atlanta rap icon Rich Homie Quan passed away at 34

. Rich Homie Quann, a rapper from Atlanta whose true name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, passed away at the age of 34

. When word leaked out early on Thursday afternoon that the rapper had passed away, social media went crazy.

. One of the first sites to break the news was Thugger Daily, which has become into an armchair expert on the Young Thug and YSL trial.

. Many more have since started sending their condolences via the internet.

. According to TMZ, Lamar's family informed them that he passed away at home on Thursday.

. According to some accounts, Quann overdosed on drugs and died. That information hasn't been verified, though.


Born in 2011, Rich Homie Quan became well-known by his songs "Type of Way" from 2013 and "Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)" from 2015. In 2016, he was a nominee for both the iHeartRadio Music Awards' Hip Hop Song of the Year and the BET Hip Hop Awards. He worked with Young Thug on the Cash Money Records song "Rich Gang" and frequently with Jacquees and 2 Chainz. Quan, who was born in Atlanta, played baseball and temporarily enrolled at Fort Valley State University before having to leave because of financial difficulties.

Former star witness Kenneth "Lil Woody" Copeland in the Young Thug and YSL RICO trial acknowledged engaging in a shooting with his friend "Threat." Copeland denied any involvement in the incident, despite attempts by prosecutors to connect Young Thug to it. Lamar was accused of felonies related to cocaine possession with intent to distribute after his arrest in Louisville, Georgia, in 2017. Later on, the case was dropped.

A team of paleontologists found matching dinosaur footprints on what are now two different continents, separated by thousands of miles of ocean.  The footprints, dating back to the Early Cretaceous period, were found in Brazil and in Cameroon , researchers wrote in a study published Monday by the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science. The discovery shows where land-dwelling dinosaurs were able to cross freely between South America and Africa before the two continents split apart millions of years ago . The study showed that the more than 260 footprints that were examined were imprinted in mud and silt along historic rivers and lakes; the footprints in South America and Africa were separated by more than 3,700 kilometers.
