Bad Bunny to join the cast with Adam Sandler in 'Happy Gilmore 2'
Netflix announced on Tuesday that comedy veteran Adam Sandler and Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny are teaming up. The musician will appear with Sandler in the much awaited sequel "Happy Gilmore 2," albeit it is unclear what part he will play. Original cast members Julie Bowen, who is currently a "Modern Family" alum, and Christopher McDonald, who costarred alongside Sandler in the 1996 original, are also confirmed for the new movie. In August, Sandler also declared that the upcoming movie would feature a brief appearance by Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
While McDonald portrayed Shooter McGavin, the professional golfer who was the hockey player-turned-golf pro's adversary in the original, Bowen portrayed Virginia Venit, Happy's love interest in the movie.
In the action comedy "Bullet Train" directed by David Leitch in 2022, Bad Bunny made an appearance alongside Brad Pitt. The musician teased the announcement on his Instagram account on Tuesday by posting a photo of himself on a jumbotron with the wrong title card identifying him as Adam Sandler.
The information was released one day after Sandler and the streaming service disclosed that the film's production has begun. It was revealed in May that Sandler will return to the part he played in the comedy "Happy Gilmore" from 1996. The movie centres on a hockey player who transforms into a popular golfer. In 2025, "Happy Gilmore 2" will make its Netflix debut.
