An Orangutan Escaped from Toronto Zoo for a short period of time before it was safely returned.
An orangutan briefly escaped its outside home before being securely recaptured, prompting the Toronto Zoo to seek professional guidance.
The zoo announced via email on Saturday that Kembali, a male orangutan, was able to exit his habitat on Thursday night and descend a tower to reach the area immediately outside the habitat.
Officials from the zoo claim that employees managed to swiftly remove guests from the area and the primate was returned to its habitat without any problems.
In order to ascertain "what modifications are required for the outdoor habitat to re-open," it has started "consulting with international experts."
The zoo expressed gratitude to patrons and employees for providing images and videos that aided in officials' comprehension of Kembali's escape from the enclosure.
The Toronto Zoo is requesting that anyone who visited on Thursday night and may have taken video footage get in touch with Graham Birtles, the supervisor of health and safety, at gbirtles@torontozoo.ca.
The outdoor habitat for orangutans will stay closed while zoo experts carry out more research and evaluation.
