Finally Oasis Reunion After 15 Years : Tour Announcement what to expect

The British group Oasis has always been near the top of the list of rock bands thought to have the lowest chance of burying their differences long enough to pull together.

Oasis, fronted by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, was a Britpop phenomenon at its height in the 1990s. With hits like "Wonderwall," "Live Forever," and "Champagne Supernova," the band could have people singing along in any bar or arena. The group's breakthrough single, "Definitely Maybe," shot to the top of the British pop chart in 1994 and became a key component of the English rock zeitgeist.

However, the band's downfall was primarily caused by the Gallagher brothers' verbal and physical altercations. A 14-minute unofficial CD featuring Noel and Liam arguing loudly, viciously, and not entirely understandably with one another during a journalist's interview was leaked in 1995.

"I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer," Noel stated at the time of the band's 2009 breakup. Since then, the Gallaghers have continued to publicly criticize one another.
They now appear to have made enough peace to declare a summer 2025 comeback tour that will feature stops all over Britain and Ireland, including a minimum of four nights at London's Wembley Stadium. The tour was announced by the band on their website. The band said in a statement that they will be performing on "other continents outside of Europe later next year."

The news did not come as a surprise. After days of speculation on social media and in-depth reporting from unidentified "industry insiders" in the British mainstream media over an impending tour announcement, Oasis announced Tuesday's date over the weekend on their website and social media accounts. Liam Gallagher gave those rumors a boost. Liam retorted, "Your scared how do you think I feel," to a fan who expressed that he was "scared" about the upcoming news. Anxiety boosted streams of the band's back repertoire.

Tour Announcement

Oasis was a success in Britain, having won six Brit Awards and sold tens of millions of albums. The Gallagher brothers' antics also ensured that the band would always be in the news. However, the band never achieved the same success in the US. Maybe that was because it was so distinctly English. More likely, it was self-inflicted: in 1994, during a period when Oasis was gaining a lot of attention from the American rock press, the band performed a notoriously wild show in Los Angeles, and Noel left the group for a few days.

No Grammy has ever been awarded to Oasis. It was not inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year despite receiving a nomination for the first time.

With his band, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Noel has put out four albums since the dissolution of Oasis. Liam has put out three solo albums, two with his group Beady Eye, and one with Stone Roses guitarist John Squire.

There is one unresolved question: Aside from the Gallagher brothers, who else will play in the band? The roster was not mentioned in the announcement, and when a group spokesman was questioned about it, she did not answer.

A 30th anniversary version of Oasis's debut album, "Definitely Maybe," which features early songs the band had long since written off, will be released this week. Read More
